A Benefit for Hollis Hawthorne
A note from the organizer:
As some of you may have heard, a friend I work with at Burning Man, Hollis Hawthorne, has been in a motorcycle accident while travelling in India, suffered a head injury, and is in a coma. Her family wants to bring her home to the US, and we need to raise $200,000 to cover the cost of the MedEvac air ambulance to get her to Stanford hospital, where she has been admitted as a charity case. Since the accident last week, we have raised $41,000 and that number continues to climb through the support of her friends in the international performance arts community. Fundraisers are happening in San Francisco, New York, Portland, and Nevada, and I am organizing a fundraiser benefit show here in Ottawa!

7-10 at The Mercury Lounge, 56 Byward
Performers: Leslie, Shakti fusion bellydance, Francesca (Rockabilly Burlesque) Dani LeBlanc, Safiya, Halyma, Joshua Tacoma, and more to come!
Admission at the door is on a sliding scale, $10 or more, whatever you can afford to donate. All funds generated from this event will be donated to Hollis' family via the PayPal account they have set up. I'd like to generate at least $1000 from this event!
