About Moria :
Morias enigmatic stage presence is born from a history of training in San Francisco bellydance technique that combines the Salimpour method, stylization from The Indigo, and Fat Chance posturing. Remembering her mothers early practice of bellydance, her fathers study of yoga, and from what later became a background of classical dance and theatre in her youth, Moria was moved to exclusively study bellydance after graduating Magne Cum Laude from the University of California, Irvine. Inspired by the spirit of bellydance as it allows for the organic and gypsy nature of life to move serpentine through space, her personal fusion of circus art, theatre make-up, and rich costuming brings a grace and elegance to tribal bellydance that evokes the majestic. She has performed music and dance in collaboration with Suhaila and Jamilla Salimpour via Bal Anat and The Suhaila Dance Company; with Ziah Ali via Awalim; and currently with Rachel Brice and Sharon Kihara via The Bellydance Superstars. Moria performs and teaches internationally and is well loved within the bellydance community and beyond.

OTHER ONLINE POSTING:

Calling all professional dancers in the NCR

There's a new Yahoo group for local pro dancers in the (general) National Capital Region:
http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/rakissit-outaouais/
Hopefully we can use it as an easy way to pass along local gigs amongst ourselves, work out performing rotations as needed and share other important stuff. If you're somewhere between Rockland to Almonte, Buckingham to Kemptville (you get the idea) and are a professional dancer, please join us!
Please pass this on as necessary...

OMEDA - the Ontario Middle Eastern Dance Association

Based here in Ottawa with info from across Ontario and beyond...
http://www.omeda.ca
Please visit http://www.omeda.ca/swap.html to see some of the lovely costumes that OMEDA members are currently offering for sale.
OMEDA members can list their sale items for free, just send the info to the OMEDA Webmaster at web@omeda.ca.

Temporary Changes to Services Provided by OMEDA

OMEDA needs a new executive team!
Members of the current executive have all been serving past their original commitments, and it is time for some fresh faces to take on the task of moving our
beloved organization to the next level. OMEDA has served the Ontario dance community for many years, and some exciting new possibilities are on the horizon.

Until a new executive team is in place, OMEDA's services will be adjusted temporarily.

What will remain the same?
Our website will remain available, and the self-serve event calendar will remain active.
Online membership renewal, and automatic renewal will still be available.
Online listing of teachers, links and items for sale will still be available.
Past issues of the newsletter will still be available for download from the website.

What will change?
Listings in the swap meet, teacher directory and links page will be updated in March and September only.
Additions to the member gallery will take place only at the end of September (once memberships are renewed).
The development of member advertisements and member webpages will be temporarily put on hold.
The newsletter will temporarily become an annual paper publication until a new editorial team is in place; e-newsletters will be sent periodically.
OMEDA executive email accounts will not be monitored; any email can be sent to inquiries@omeda.ca.

What can you do?
If you or anyone you know would be interested in taking this organization to the next level, please
contact us. It is not necessary to be in the Ottawa area to be a valued contributor to OMEDA; participation from across the province is welcomed
and encouraged. Executive members receive their own OMEDA email accounts in order to facilitate online collaboration. In addition to the feeling of community and accomplishment that comes from contributing to the dance community, serving OMEDA executive members enjoy their membership privileges for free.

Contact us at INQUIRIES@OMEDA.CA to express your interest or nominate a candidate.
